Syncing to Nokia N and E Series phones

When you connect your Nokia N or E Series phone to your PC, you'll be prompted by your device to select a sync mode. The message you'll see on your phone's screen is similar to the one below. Please select Mass Storage (not PC Suite)

In order to get the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic to sync properly with doubleTwist you must specify the USB conection mode to Mass storage. See instructions below:

1) Connect your smartphone to your computer using a micro USB cable.
2) A dialog will display on your smartphone asking you to specify the connection type. From this menu you will see the following options. a) PC Suite b) Mass Storage c) Image Transfer d) Media Transfer. In order for your 5800 XpressMusic to allow syncing to all content you must specify b) Mass Storage mode. *
3) After selecting Mass Storage mode you should see the device in your list under devices. The name of the device will be Nokia.
4) At this point you should be able to click the Music/Videos/Photos and see all of the content on your smartphone. To transfer new media simply drag the media from your media library to the Nokia device and it will transfer accordingly. **

* If you do not see a dialog prompting you for a USB connection mode you will need to change your preferences to Ask upon connection for USB settings. This can be done by going to Settings->Connectivity->USB and change the parameter for "Ask on connection" to yes.

** When you are done transfering Media to your phone you will need to go to the Finder and eject the media to safely remove your smartphone from the computer. If you do not do this you could risk corrupting data on your media card.

Enjoy the ease of use of doubleTwist.

Thanks so much for the info on syncing to the Nokis 5800. there are least 33 gazillion devices and phones out there and it will take us a while to get to each and everyone to test. we rely on you, our esteemed users to help us out when you find a device not on our supported list that does indeed play nicely with the dT application.

My Nokia N95 doesn't want to get introduced to DoubleTwist, either by PC Suite or "Mass Storage." (On my N95, it's called "Data Transfer."

My workaround in the short term is eject the Micro SD card from phone and attach that to my Macbook via USB, but I'm looking forward to seeing my compatibility.

Keep up the good work!

Is there any chance of supporting PC Suite mode? Problem is that on my N95, and probably others, I have my SMS/MMS/eMail set to use the memory card for storage - this means that Mass Storage (Data Transfer on the N95) cannot be activated without manually changing the services back to use the phone memory. If during this time I receive a message it will end up on the phone.

I used media Transfer Mode tonight with my new 5800 and just dragged and dropped content from my PC library to my phone in dTwist and it worked no problem.

Very happy...just wish I could find a class 4 or class 6 16Gb microSDHC card

Same problem here!
Can't get my N95 8Gb work with dT because.... "SMS/MMS/eMail set to use the memory card for storage"
I guess most of N95 users have this settings, becuase it's the default setting.
